Alexander Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus said that he does not plan to attack and bombard Ukraine from Belarusian territory.

Quote from Lukashenko: "Don't think that I am planning some kind of attack here, that Ukraine will be bombed from the territory of Belarus and so on. I have no desire for your and my children to fight. In the name of what? We need to calm down. There is no Ukraine at war today. Today, Russia is at war with the entire NATO bloc and America, first of all."

Details: At the same time, while visiting Belarusian enterprises, Lukashenko began to explain to employees that, in his opinion, Europe would have stopped the war a long time ago "if the United States had not continued to increase hostilities with the help of Poland."

Background:

  • On 12 August, Belarus once again extended its military exercises until at least 20 August.
  • On 15 August, the "Belaruski Hajun" monitoring group reported that a large number of anti-aircraft missile systems with about 15-60 missiles was accumulated on the territory of "Zyabrovka" air base in the Gomel Oblast of Belarus, which may indicate preparations for a massive strike.
