On Rynok Square in Lviv, the memory of students who died defending the country since the beginning of the full-scale invasion has been commemorated.

The "Diplomas that will never be handed over" event was organised by the student council, the press service of Lviv City Council reported.

More than 40 individual diplomas were placed in the centre of Lviv on Youth Day. Students from all over the country were supposed to receive them, but their intended recipients died because of the war.

"In Ukraine, the youth are considered to be people aged 14 to 35, and students are the most active community, who develop their city, their country, who bring and introduce changes.

That's why this event is a cruel reminder to everyone that we have to continue the struggle and the volunteering in memory of those who died defending our homeland," said Rostyslav Yunyk, head of the youth policy department of Lviv.

He added that it is about those students with an active stance in life, who took up arms in the first days of the full-scale invasion and stood up to defend Ukraine.
