Evacuation from Azovstal means humanitarian corridors for residents other districts of Mariupol postponed

Due to the evacuation of civilians from the territory of the "Azovstal" plant in Mariupol, the humanitarian corridors for Mariupol residents of other districts were postponed until 2 May.

Details: The Mariupol City Council confirmed the beginning of the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal steel plant with the help of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The press office promised to provide more information about the operation once people have reached safety.
Background:
- At 5.30 pm in the evening on 1 May, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the evacuation of civilians from the bunkers of the Azovstal plant had begun with the assistance of the United Nations and the ICRC.
- At noon on 1 May, international journalists began to report that evacuation buses with 50 civilians left Mariupol and were taken to territory controlled by the forces of the self-proclaimed DPR [Donetsk People’s Republic].
- On 30 April, the military took 20 wounded civilians out from the rubble of a field hospital on the territory of the Azovstal plant.
