The head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, has urged local residents to leave the region due to the threat of military escalation.

Quote from Kyrylenko: "We strongly recommend (...) the whole population to leave, not only near the demarcation line. We are providing all the necessary transport on certain routes and clearly indicating how, and which route they will take. The fewer people are in this area, the easier it will be to defend the territory. Because the Russian forces will use the local population to achieve their audacious plans."

Details: Kyrylenko noted that the situation is hard in the settlements of Avdiivka, Marinka, and Krasnohorivka: shelling continues, the Russian military is targetting both the local population and residential buildings.

Background: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Russian troops are preparing for powerful new strikes on Ukraine.
