The defenders of Mariupol and soldiers of the Azov Regiment say that no one has contacted them or picked up the phone for more than two weeks.
Source: Sviatoslav Palamar, deputy commander of the Azov Regiment
Direct quote from Sviatoslav Palamar: "Have you ever thought about what it’s like to be here and fight in these conditions and what the defenders of Mariupol are feeling?
"It’s when you get an SMS saying ‘How’s it going, my friend?’, and five seconds earlier you put a mate you knew for seven years into a body bag. It’s when yesterday’s platoon leader - 22 years old - commands a battalion and does it better than a seasoned colonel who’s been drawing his salary from the State all his life…
It’s when a division of soldiers from the Azov Regiment attacks a company of elite ‘spetsnaz’ (special forces)…
And it’s when our girls make soup out of whatever is at hand and you can’t bring yourself to eat it because just a few streets away a child is dying of hunger and you can’t help them…
It’s the politicians who say ‘We’re supporting them. We’re in constant contact.’ But for more than two weeks no one has picked up the phone and no one has been in touch with anyone."
Details: Deputy commander Palamar encourages the people of Ukraine to persevere, fight and win.
Reminder: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers that fighting for the east of Ukraine and, in particular, Mariupol will determine the course of the war. If the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffer defeat there, the Russians may leave the negotiating table and reoccupy the liberated territories.
President Zelenskyy has stated that the defenders of Mariupol are up against 10,000 aggressors. If they succeed in holding Mariupol, the invaders will not be able to get to the east of Ukraine.
