Finnish tyre maker Nokian Tyres said it was not investing any more in Russian production, but had decided not to close its plant in Russia.

The company said in a statement:

"Nokian Tyres is following the situation in Ukraine with shock, and we hope for an early diplomatic solution to this tragedy.

We are in close contact with our Ukrainian workers and have helped and are helping them and their families to stay safe. Nokian Tyres has also made a donation to UNICEF in aid of children in the war zone in Ukraine," the company said.

The company added that it is not accepting orders for truck tyres from Russia.

"By continuing to produce passenger car tyres in Russia, we want to ensure that the plant will continue to be managed and controlled by Nokian Tyres. However, we will no longer invest in Russian production," Nokian Tyres added.

"We will continue to assess the situation and are ready to respond promptly if necessary," the company summed up.
