The court released Oleksandr Kovalyov, Head of the ‘Nikhto Krim Nas’ [En: Nobody But Us], an NGO for Soviet veterans of the war in Afghanistan, on his own recognizance before the main trial in his case, the Head of the Special Investigations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office Serhiy Horbatiuk told Ukrayinski Novyny.

Kovalyov is suspected of helping most of the Berkut officers who shot at the participants of the Revolution of Dignity escape and hiding the rifles used in the mass shootings.

The court ordered the suspect to surrender his travel passport, refrain from communicating with the other suspects in the case, and turn up in court and at the detective’s office on demand.

According to Horbatiuk, the court made this decision on pretrial restrictive measures for Kovalyov in early August.
