National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak, General Staff Chief Viktor Muzhenko and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin came to the President to discuss Ukraine’s response to Russia’s actions.
On Wednesday, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia accused Ukraine of two attempted subversive attacks in Crimea on 8 August which were ‘stopped by the special forces of Russia.’ According to them, one of the attackers was Yevhen Panov. Panov’s brother informed that he had been abducted and brought to Crimea from Zaporizka Oblast.
The Defense Ministry of Ukraine said that such a statement by the FSB was nothing more than an attempt to justify reshuffling and aggressive Russian military actions on the peninsula.
President Poroshenko claimed on Wednesday night that Russia’s statements were ‘a fantasy.’
