Patrol Police Launched in Three Cities in Luhansk Oblast

Ukraine’s new Patrol Police are now working in three cities in Luhansk oblast — Siverskodonetsk, Lysychansk, and Rubizhne.

The new officers took their oath on May 22, 2016 in Siverskodonetsk. In a Facebook post [ed.: the text of this Facebook post is in the Russian language], Mustafa Nayyem, MP for Petro Poroshenko Bloc, reminded that Siverskodonetsk is a city with strong separatist sentiment that is located only 20km from the frontline, thus underlining the importance of launching the new police there.

Out of 147 new law enforcement officers, 27 are women, 20 are former combatants, and two fought in the ATO [ed.: Anti-Terrorist Operation, the term that is used to describe the war in eastern Ukraine against Russian forces and Russian-backed militants]. Andriy Bohush, a police lieutenant, will be the acting head of the Department.
