The convoy consists of at least 80 vehicles of various modifications: 18 vans, more than 20 UAZ Pickups, van trucks, about 20 UAZ-452s, as well as PAZ buses, minibuses and several tiltable Urals and KamAZs. The equipment has (terrorist) ‘LPR’/’DPR’ licence plates."

Details: The movement of the Wagner convoy was noticed at approximately 12:30 along the M5 highway from Asipovičy towards the camp in the settlement of Tsel.

The convoy stretched along the highway for more or less five kilometres and is now approaching the exit to the village, where the tent camp for the Wagner Group mercenaries is located.

Motolko Help reports that this appears to be the fourth convoy of Prigozhin's mercenaries that has arrived in Belarus.

At the same time, on the morning of 18 July, the plane of Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin arrived in Belarus from Russia for the fourth time after the failed rebellion against the Russian leadership.

Background:

  • The Wagner Group had been fighting in Ukraine, especially in Bakhmut, but withdrew to field camps in the late spring.
  • On 24 June, the Wagner Private Military Company (PMC) started an armed rebellion in Russia due to a conflict with the Russian military command, but that very evening, after a conversation with self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Yevgeny Prigozhin said that his mercenaries were returning to the field camps. The criminal case against Prigozhin in Russia was closed, and he was to "go to Belarus".
  • On 26 June, the Russian media outlet Vyorstka reported that camps were being built in Belarus to house Wagner militants after agreements were reached with Alexander Lukashenko, who had been in talks with Yevgeny Prigozhin.
  • Yevgeny Prigozhin is believed to have visited the camp in Tsel on 11-12 July. As of 17 July, at least three convoys of Wagnerites had arrived there, supposedly with no heavy weapons.
  • On 11 July, the Ministry of Defence of Belarus stated that there would be an "exchange of experience" between Wagner mercenaries and the Armed Forces of Belarus at Belarusian training grounds. By 14 July, mercenaries were already training with units of the Belarusian territorial troops near Asipovičy.
