National Security and Defence Council suggests to increase accountability for corruption in courts to 10-15 years of imprisonment

Following the results of the National Security and Defence Council meeting on 23 June, it was suggested that the accountability for corruption in courts be increased to 10 to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Quote: "After considering the issue, the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine turned to the bodies with legal initiative concerning the strengthening of criminal responsibility for corruption offences in the legal domain, providing for imprisonment sentence from 10 to 15 years with confiscation of property, strengthening the role of the jury court and expanding the range of cases it should be applied to, as well as enhancing the pre-checks of judges, specifically with the use of a lie detector."
