The Russian occupiers have attacked Kremenchuk, targeting the Kremenchuk refinery and surrounding fuel and lubricants depots with massive shelling.
This was announced by Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration.
"Unfortunately, the company's infrastructure has been destroyed. The plant is not working. Our rescuers continue to heroically put out the fire," Lunin said.
"Several people had suffered burns, but their lives are not in danger," the head of the Regional Military Administration added. It is noted that there is no environmental catastrophe, and the State Emergency Service is monitoring the situation.
"I would like to ask the residents of the Poltava region not to queue for petrol and not to create an artificial shortage. The war is ongoing in Ukraine, the situation is extremely difficult, but it is under control," he said.
Kremenchuk Refinery (PJSC Ukrtatnafta) is the largest (and only) refinery in Ukraine with a design capacity of 18.6 million tonnes. The ownership structure of the refinery is as follows: 43.05% of its shares are held by the state oil company Naftogaz Ukrainy, while the rest is divided between Ihor Kolomoisky and Olexandr Yaroslavsky.
Background:
Russian troops shelled infrastructure facilities in the city of Myrhorod, Poltava region, and damaged the airport's runway.
It was reported that the shelling of Kremenchuk also continued: an industrial zone was hit, causing a fire.
