The Embassy of the USA is very disturbed by the announcement of the disappearance of independent journalist Georogiy Gongadze.
The Embassy knows him well. Earlier this month, on September 7, Ambassador Pifer took part in an Internet chat session with readers of the Internet newspaper "Ukrainska Pravda".
The Embassy is closely following the developments of the situation and hopes, that the whereabouts of Mr. Gongadze will be determined. The Embassy expresses its anxiety, and that of high-ranking officials from their Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the President’s Administration.
