Over a 24-hour period from 6-7 March, Russian forces have been shelling and carrying out aerial bombardment of residential neighbourhoods and various facilities in Kharkiv and nearby villages with renewed force, resulting in a lot of destruction and fire.
During the 24 hours of March 5, the areas that witnessed the most extensive damage to the civilian infrastructure caused by warfare are the city of Chernihiv in the north of Ukraine, the city of Kharkiv in the north-east, the Bucha district of the Kyiv region and the Korosten district of the Zhytomyr region.
Ihor Terekhov, Mayor of Kharkiv, has refuted false rumours claiming capitulation of Kharkiv; he assured that Kharkiv was holding on and would not surrender to the aggressor.
In Russian-occupied Kherson, invaders may attempt to simulate a "rally" allegedly in support of the Russian occupation. They are already bringing people and vehicles into the city.
Explosions were heard in Kharkiv a few minutes after air raid sirens were sounded in the city. According to Ukrainska Pravda’s sources, two missiles were likely launched at the city.
