German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish diplomats say they are staying in Kyiv

The embassies of Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden in Ukraine have said on social media that they are staying in Kyiv despite threats from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) against foreign diplomats.

Details: They all said that, together with other heads of diplomatic missions in Kyiv, they "take note with concern of the Russian MFA's threat against diplomats and foreign citizens in Ukraine".
"Russia is bound by the Vienna Convention and international humanitarian law. We stay in Kyiv," the diplomatic missions said in their posts.
Background:
- EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová said that all European Union member state embassies will remain operational in Kyiv despite Russian threats.
- The Polish and Estonian foreign ministries made the same statement.
- The European Commission also responded to the Russian threats, saying that the EU will continue to support Ukraine and further increase pressure on the aggressor country
- Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on 30 September that debris had been found on the grounds of one of the Western countries' embassies in the city's Shevchenkivskyi district following Russian strikes on the capital.
