Russia launches ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, numerous explosions heard

An air-raid warning was issued in the city of Kyiv and most oblasts of Ukraine on the night of 23-24 September because of the threat of Russian ballistic missiles. Explosions have been heard in Kyiv.

Details: At around 01:00, the Air Force warned of a threat from Russian ballistic missiles from Kursk, Voronezh and Rostov.

A red-level alert was issued in the capital and most oblasts.

The Air Force later reported that missiles were heading towards the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast.

A series of explosions was heard in Kyiv shortly after 01:00.

At 01:22, Klitschko reported that medics had been called to Kyiv's Solomianskyi district.

At around the same time, the Air Force issued another warning about a ballistic missile threat from Russia's Bryansk.

Quote from Klitschko at 01:30: "Explosions in Kyiv. The capital is under a ballistic missile attack.

Stay in shelters!"

Details: Klitschko also said medics had been called to Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi and Podilskyi districts.

In addition, the mayor reported that debris had fallen on non-residential premises in the Solomianskyi and Podilskyi districts.

At around 02:00, the Air Force reported that more ballistic missiles were heading towards Kyiv.

Quote from Klitschko: "In the Dniprovskyi district, debris has fallen in the courtyards of a 16-storey residential building and a house, and on an administrative building.

Emergency services are heading to the scenes."

Update: At 02:27, the all-clear was given in Kyiv.
