Major General Viktor Nikoliuk is leaving his position as commander of Operational Command Skhid (East), a post he held for five months.

Quote: "When an important stage in life or work comes to an end, it is customary in our society to summarise. Today I will do the same for the period of time during which I commanded the Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, Ocheretyne and Pokrovsk fronts.

I can say with confidence that my successor has been handed a fully battle-ready group, capable of steadfastly conducting active defensive operations."

Details: Nikoliuk shared that during his command, they managed to hold back the offensive of Russian forces on the Oleksandrivka front. He also stated that through joint efforts, they managed to block the Russians in Kostiantynivka.

"On the Sloviansk and Kramatorsk fronts, we managed to build a resilient multi-layered defence by reinforcing the units holding positions on the front line and to create conditions for the further destruction of the infiltrated enemy," he wrote.

Background:

  • Nikoluk was appointed commander of Operational Command Skhid in April 2026, replacing Brigadier General Dmytro Bratishko.
  • Prior to this, Nikoliuk commanded the Donetsk Operational and Tactical Group.
  • In September, it became known that commander of the 3rd Army Corps and Hero of Ukraine Andrii Biletskyi, would head the new Operational Group Centre.
