The Luhanska and Zaporizhzhia thermal power plants have been under Russian occupation since 2022. Russian forces destroyed the Kurakhivska thermal power plant in 2024.

Background: In June, it was reported that DTEK plans to build a 650MW combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant on the site of the Burshtynska thermal power plant in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
