Canada imposes sanctions on defence company that supplied equipment to Russia
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand has announced that sanctions will be imposed on a defence company that has supplied products to Russia's military-industrial complex.

Details: The company involved is Streit Group, which manufactures armoured vehicles and other military equipment.
"Canada is sanctioning this company following multiple credible reports confirming that armoured vehicles they manufactured have been used by the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardia), which is involved in Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine," Canada's foreign ministry stressed.
The Canadian foreign ministry noted that the sanctions imposed will reduce Russia's military potential in the war against Ukraine by disrupting and limiting Streit Group's ability to supply military technologies and equipment to Russia.
"Canada remains unwavering in its commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity and people, who continue to defend their country and their rights in the face of Russia's brutal aggression," the statement reads.
Acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, for his part, thanked Canada for the decision.
"Every company supplying technology, equipment, or components to Russia's military-industrial complex helps sustain its war of aggression against Ukraine and must face consequences," he added.
The same day, it was reported that Austria's State Office for State Protection and Intelligence had uncovered an international scheme through which a Vienna-based company had supplied equipment used in the production of engines for Russian missiles and fighter jets in circumvention of European Union sanctions.
