Ukrainian law enforcement officers have identified a Russian soldier who abducted and raped teen girls aged 13 and 15 during the occupation of Mykolaiv Oblast. He is a 26-year-old native of Russia’s Stavropol Krai who voluntarily joined the ranks of the Akhmat special operations unit.

On 19 March 2022, the man, together with other Russian military personnel, seized the Snihurivka hromada in Mykolaiv Oblast [a hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]. They began to intimidate, rob, beat and torture the local residents.

Investigators found that the man illegally broke into one of the abandoned apartments of a Ukrainian soldier who was defending Ukraine.

He then kidnapped and brought two underage girls to the seized home, threatening them with weapons.

For three days, the perpetrator raped and intimidated the children. He also found out that the mother of one of the girls was a military officer who was in captivity, and he beat the child for this.

On the third day, the girls were lucky to escape through a window when the soldier was not in the apartment.

Soon, regular Russian troops began to retreat. The special unit fled with them.

After the liberation, the police investigators began to document the crimes of the Russians and, with the help of specialists from Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, identified the rapist.

He was served with a notice of suspicion under Article 438.1 of the Criminal Code (violation of the laws and customs of war). He faces up to 10 years in prison.

"The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Police investigators are doing everything possible to identify all those involved in the offences committed by the Russians in the occupied territories," law enforcement officials said.

Background: Earlier, Ukrainian law enforcement officers exposed a Russian soldier who kidnapped a 21-year-old woman from Kharkiv Oblast and brought her to Russia. The attacker held the Ukrainian woman captive, beat and raped her for over a year.
