"He paid tribute to fallen Ukrainian defenders and is set to participate in a conference, hold working meetings, and discuss Ukraine's continued European integration," the report said.
The Dutch media reports that the Netherlands is helping Ukraine gain access to the European Union. For this purpose, a conference will be held in Lviv on Saturday, which will also be attended by Minister Caspar Veldkamp.
The lower house of parliament has asked the Cabinet of Ministers to help the Ukrainian government with the complex EU accession process. To become an EU member, a candidate country must meet the so-called Copenhagen criteria.
Representatives of six Dutch ministries arrived in Lviv to discuss the rule of law, agriculture, energy and social issues.
The conference in Lviv will be held annually and will take place in Ukraine and the Netherlands. Veldkamp will also speak in Lviv with Olha Stefanishyna, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.
Background:
- The Cabinet of Ministers (Ukrainian government) has approved a plan for Ukraine's implementation of the European Commission's recommendations set out in the 2024 progress report of the candidate countries.
- Ukraine is waiting for the opening of the first clusters in the EU accession negotiations. The European Commission has announced ambitious plans to open three clusters of negotiations before the end of the Polish presidency in June 2025. However, this step is being blocked by Hungary, which is putting forward new demands regarding the rights of the Hungarian minority.
