Details: Leavitt said the visit of Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East, to Russia for talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin is an important step in the diplomatic process aimed at ending the war and reaching a final peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
She emphasised that Trump consistently expresses frustration with the actions of both sides of the war – Moscow and Kyiv.
Quote: "I think the president has been quite clear that he's been continually frustrated with both sides of this conflict and he wants to see this fighting end; he wants the war to end, and we believe we have leverage in negotiating a deal."
