When asked whether the United States was raising the issue of returning illegally deported Ukrainian children in its negotiations with Russia, Trump said it was among the topics being discussed but noted that no decisions had been made yet.
"We're talking about territory right now. We're talking about lines of demarcation, talking about power, power plant ownership," the US president added.
According to Trump, "some people are saying the United States should own the power plant...because we have the expertise".
Trump did not specify which nuclear power plant he was referring to, stating only that the discussion concerned the ownership of a large nuclear facility.
Background:
- Last week, Washington reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump discussed Ukrainian nuclear power plants and their possible management by the United States on 19 March.
- However, Zelenskyy denied that nuclear power plant ownership was the subject of negotiations with the US president.
