Any diplomacy with Russia must be backed up by firepower and pressure, says Ukraine's foreign minister

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stated, following a Russian missile strike on the city of Sumy, that any diplomacy with Russia must be supported by firepower, sanctions and pressure.

Details: Sybiha said Moscow speaks of peace while simultaneously launching brutal strikes on densely populated residential areas in large Ukrainian cities.

Quote: "A few hours ago, another horrific Russian bombing of Sumy's city center injured dozens civilians, including many children. Instead of making hollow statements about peace, Russia must stop bombing our cities and end its war on civilians."

• On the afternoon of 24 March, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Sumy, damaging several apartment buildings and a school. Early data indicates that 65 people have been injured.
• Talks between US and Russian delegations are taking place in Saudi Arabia on 24 March. The Kremlin stated that the main topic of discussion is the potential resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which Russia withdrew from in 2023.
• Media outlets reported that following the conclusion of the US-Russia talks, the US and Ukrainian delegations will hold another round of negotiations.
• Prior to this, on 23 March, a US-Ukraine meeting was held in Riyadh.
