Details: Zelenskyy noted that Trump had asked him about the Zaporizhzhia NPP during a phone call yesterday.
"I told him that if it's not Ukrainian, it will not work for anyone. That's illegal. It won't be able to. And we cannot simply dispose of this plant because it belongs to the state," he explained.
The Ukrainian president stressed that Ukraine was ready to discuss the issue of investments in Ukrainian NPPs and their modernisation.
"But we definitely haven't discussed the issue of ownership with President Trump," Zelenskyy said.
He added that the issue of ownership of other NPPs was not raised in the conversation with the US president either.
Background:
- Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz stated that, following the conversation between Trump and Zelenskyy, the two presidents had raised the issue of Ukrainian nuclear power plants and their possible management by the US.
- Last month, Zelenskyy noted that he had spoken with Trump and his team about nuclear energy and the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
