US Congress certifies Trump's victory in 2024 election – CNN
The US Congress officially certified Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election at a meeting on 6 January.

Details: During the Congressional session, the procedure of formal counting of votes of the Electoral College took place. During the count, there were no objections to the results.
Kamala Harris, US Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, chaired the meeting and officially certified the vote count.
US law stipulates that this statement "shall be deemed a sufficient declaration of the persons" elected as president and vice president.
Trump will take the oath of office on 20 January, after which he will officially be considered the 47th president of the United States.
Background: Earlier, House Speaker Mike Johnson said that the bad weather in Washington would not interfere with the election results.
It was also reported that Trump had planned a victory rally in Washington on 19 January, the day before his inauguration for a second presidential term.
