Details: Nearly 1,000 of Energoatom’s employees have joined Ukraine’s armed forces to defend the country. Meanwhile, 3,000 workers chose to sign contracts with Rosatom, the Russian state-owned nuclear energy corporation, and stay at the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. A further 2,000 employees have left Ukraine.

Kotin said around 5,000 employees of the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remain in Ukrainian-controlled territory and are working in other divisions of Energoatom.

Background: The construction and installation of new power units at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine’s west will require an additional 9,000 employees and the recruitment of new staff.
