Ukraine's air defences down two Kh-59 missiles and almost 80 UAVs overnight

The Russians launched an attack on Ukraine on the night of 5-6 January with two Kh-59 air-to-surface missiles and 128 Shahed-type attack UAVs, as well as various types of decoy drones. Ukrainian air defences have destroyed two missiles and 79 UAVs.

Details: The Russians fired missiles from the southern front, while Shahed and decoy drones were launched from the areas of Bryansk, Millerovo, Oryol, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.

As of 09:00, two Kh-59 air-to-surface missiles and 79 Shahed attack UAVs and other types of drones were confirmed downed in Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad and Vinnytsia oblasts. No hits were recorded.

A total of 49 Russian decoy drones disappeared from radar (causing no adverse effects).

The fall of the downed Russian drones caused damage to company buildings, institutions and residential buildings in Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, Poltava and Kyiv oblasts. No casualties were reported.
