Russia claims drone attack on its 5 oblasts

The Russian Defence Ministry has claimed the destruction of 16 Ukrainian drones overnight, including over Russia's Leningrad Oblast.

Details: According to the Russian ministry, 10 of these drones were allegedly downed by air defence systems over Bryansk Oblast, three over Smolensk Oblast and one each over Belgorod, Pskov and Leningrad oblasts.

Background: 

• In January 2024, Russia claimed to have intercepted drones near Moscow and, for the first time, in Leningrad Oblast.
• Later, it was revealed that the drone attack on an oil depot in Leningrad Oblast by Ukrainian drones on the night of 17-18 January was a special operation by Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
