Zelenskyy honours brigades for repelling fierce Russian assault

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked Ukraine’s defence forces units that continue to repel the fiercest Russian assaults.

Quote: "Thank you to all [Ukrainian] units that are striking the Russian army and destroying the occupiers. For their achievements in recent battles, I want to acknowledge the 24th and 100th Separate Mechanised Brigades, which repelled one of the fiercest Russian assaults just before the New Year, as well as the 59th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade and the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade, which are defending Pokrovsk, and the 79th Airborne Brigade, for their exceptional efforts. Well done, soldiers! Thank you all!"

Background: On 2 January, an uncrewed aerial systems battalion of the 24th King Danylo Separate Mechanised Brigade reported the destruction of seven pieces of Russian equipment on the Bakhmut front in Donetsk Oblast over the past 24 hours.
