Details: The European Commission leadership has initiated a review of Biden’s key decisions, ranging from sanctions against Russia to trade and cybersecurity policies. The aim is to assess which changes could have the most significant impact on EU measures.
"The concern is he decides to reverse things just because Biden had done them. We need to know how that could affect us," said a senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Particular concern revolves around the potential lifting of sanctions imposed on Russia in 2022 following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The EU hopes that Trump may decide to retain these sanctions as leverage for possible future negotiations with Russia to end the war.
Meanwhile, a representative of Trump’s transition team stated that the politician has been given "a resounding mandate" to fulfil his campaign promises.
