Details: According to the TV channel's correspondent in Ankara, Russia is looking for a way to safely withdraw some of its troops from Syria with the support of Türkiye and has made a request in this regard.
In particular, Russia proposes that its military should go to the Turkish-controlled areas of Syria and then fly to Russia.
At the same time, Russia wants to keep its military bases in Tartus and Khmeimim.
Background:
- A number of European leaders had earlier reacted to the news of the fall of the Syrian regime by saying that Assad's bet on Russia had failed.
- There were also suggestions that Vladimir Putin's power could one day "crumble" just as unexpectedly.
