EU approves new €4.2 bln macro-finance tranche for Ukraine
The EU Council has approved a new payment of €50 billion to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility programme. The decision stilpulates that Ukraine will soon receive more than €4.2 billion in grants and loans to support its macro-financial stability.

Details: When adopting this decision, the EU Council concluded that Ukraine had fulfilled the necessary conditions and reforms to receive a new bailout.
The EU Council also stressed the importance of disbursing funds as soon as possible, given Ukraine's difficult fiscal situation.
Ukraine receives the funds by fulfilling the conditions in accordance with its recovery, reconstruction and modernisation plan and the reforms it plans to implement as part of its EU accession process over the next four years.
Background:
- In May 2024, the EU Council concluded that Ukraine's reform plan met the prerequisites for up to €50 billion in support, and the first tranche was transferred in August.
- The Ukraine Facility programme, which came into force on 1 March 2024, provides up to €50 billion of stable financing in the form of grants and loans to support Ukraine's recovery, reconstruction, and modernisation from 2024 to 2027.
- Since the programme came into force, the EU has already disbursed €6 billion in bridge financing, €1.89 billion in pre-financing and a first tranche of almost €4.2 billion, of which €1.5 billion is in the form of non-repayable financial support and over €2.6 billion in loans.
