Zelenskyy speaks with NATO secretary general of importance of inviting Ukraine to Alliance
On Thursday, 5 December, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by telephone with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Details: Zelenskyy noted that he thanked Rutte for holding a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council in Brussels at the level of foreign ministers.
Quote: "I reiterated the importance of inviting Ukraine to NATO and ensuring the timely reinforcement of our combat brigades with ammunition, weapons, and equipment, as well as strengthening Ukraine’s defense against Russian air terror this winter," he added.
The president further stated that he is working with the NATO secretary general to coordinate their stances "to bring closer a just and stable peace."
Zelenskyy went on to say that this support is critical not just for Ukraine, but also for other European allies, "because the security of one is the foundation for the security of all."
Previously, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement affirming that Ukraine will not accept security guarantees as a substitute for NATO membership.
At the same time, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Ukraine is not pushing for NATO membership during the war, taking into account the stance of certain member states.
