Pro-Russian Romanian presidential candidate threatens to halt aid to Ukraine – Reuters
Far-right Romanian presidential candidate Călin Georgescu has declared that if elected, he will ban the transit of Ukrainian grain exports through Romania and halt military aid to Kyiv.

Details: Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Romania has facilitated the export of millions of tonnes of Ukrainian grain through its Black Sea port of Constanța, provided training for Ukrainian pilots and delivered a Patriot air defence battery to Kyiv.
Georgescu stated on 4 December that all such support would cease under his leadership.
Quote: "How could I agree to this? It is impossible. Romania and the Romanian people come first.
It is unimaginable that there be a war next to us in the middle of Europe, so a priority will definitely be that this war in Ukraine must immediately be stopped."
Background:
- Georgescu, known for his far-right and anti-Western views, delivered a surprising victory in the first round of Romania’s presidential elections, securing over 22% of the vote.
- Exit polls from the 1 December parliamentary elections indicated that he is also leading against his pro-European rival Elena Lasconi in the second round.
