Russians attempt to fortify positions on islands near Kherson: 300 boats assembled
Russian troops have been constantly conducting assaults on the Kherson front, trying to gain a foothold in the island zone.
Source: Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Defence Forces of Ukraine's South, in a comment to Suspilne, Ukraine’s public broadcaster
Quote:"Their goal is to secure a foothold, hold it and draw as many of our forces and resources there as possible. All these assaults end in failure. They are entirely ineffective, with the enemy only suffering losses."
Details: Voloshyn revealed intelligence indicating that Russia is currently training assault groups to cross water barriers at training grounds in temporarily occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts.
Quote: "The training involves boats from the so-called Dnipro Flotilla, a division relocated to the Tendrivska and Kinburn spits earlier in autumn. These exercises focus on tactics for crossing water obstacles and deploying infantry groups in assaults."
Voloshyn confirmed reports of the Russians amassing 300 boats, adding that Ukraine's Defence Forces are prepared to respond to any escalation.
Background: Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration, previously stated in an interview with Financial Times that "Russia aims to launch another offensive here" and noted the accumulation of "300 boats to cross the river".
