Russia claims large-scale Ukrainian UAV attack, reportedly downing 68 drones

The Russian Defence Ministry has claimed that air defence systems destroyed 68 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory and temporarily occupied Crimea over the past day.

Details: The ministry reported that 25 UAVs were allegedly downed over Bryansk Oblast, 17 over Crimea, 11 over Krasnodar Krai, 10 over Smolensk Oblast, 2 over Tver Oblast and one each over Rostov, Kursk and Kaluga oblasts.

  • Russian media and Telegram channels reported a fire at an oil depot at dawn on 31 December following a UAV attack in Russia's Smolensk Oblast.
  • Explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol, Crimea, on Monday evening, 30 December. The Russians claimed an attack by drones and uncrewed surface vessels.
