  • On the night of 25 December, Ukraine's defence forces struck the command post of the Russian 810th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade in the city of Lgov, Kursk Oblast.
  • Updated information revealed that the building housing the command post of the 810th Brigade was partially destroyed. The strike reportedly killed the deputy commander of the brigade and 17 other servicemen, most of whom were staff officers.
  • On 6 December, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin dismissed Kursk Oblast Governor Aleksey Smirnov and appointed State Duma deputy Aleksandr Khinshtein as acting head of the region. This marks the second leadership change in the oblast this year, reportedly due to "chaos" following the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operations and a failed defence.
