Details: The military will undergo specialised training in the following key areas:
- search and rescue;
- survival;
- avoiding getting captured;
- resilience in captivity;
- evacuation training;
- retraining.
The Ukrainian military will be trained to survive in various conditions, including arctic, tropical, rocky, and desert terrain. The focus will be on organising search and rescue operations to efficiently evacuate isolated personnel.
The training will be conducted by SERE instructors who will undergo regular retraining to maintain their qualifications.
It is noted that implementing this standard aims to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capability, improve the training of military personnel, and integrate the Armed Forces of Ukraine into NATO standards, which will ensure their high compatibility with the Alliance's requirements.
Quote from Dmytro Klimenkov, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine: "The risk of being isolated or performing combat missions in difficult circumstances accompanies military service. Our goal is to provide soldiers with the necessary knowledge and train instructors who will help them withstand the challenges. At the same time, introducing such a standard brings us closer to NATO principles, which is an important step towards Euro-Atlantic integration."
