Fury outweighs Usyk by 25 kilograms ahead of rematch

The traditional weigh-in ceremony has taken place ahead of the bout between the world heavyweight champion under the WBA, WBO and IBO titles, Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) and his British opponent Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).

Details: As expected, the Gypsy King outweighed the Ukrainian champion, though both boxers remained dressed during the weigh-in.

Tyson Fury: 127.4 kg
Oleksandr Usyk: 102.5 kg

This makes Usyk slightly heavier than during the first fight, when he weighed in at 101.1 kg. Fury, on the other hand, has gained significant weight compared to the initial bout, weighing 127.4 kg this time, up from 118.8 kg in May.

For Fury, this weight is considered comfortable. In his bout with Francis Ngannou a year ago, the British boxer weighed 126 kg. Usyk, meanwhile, maintained his usual weight range, similar to his second fight against Anthony Joshua, where he weighed 100.2 kg.

Usyk appeared at the weigh-in ceremony holding a flag with Free Azovstal Defenders written on it. This way the Ukrainian boxer expressed support for Ukrainian POWs held in Russian captivity.

Background: On 19 December, Usyk and Fury engaged in an intense staredown and exchanged words.

Previously, a dispute arose between the teams of the Ukrainian boxer and the Gypsy King regarding the choice of the third referee.

The rematch between Usyk and Fury is set to take place on 21 December. The first fight ended with a split decision victory for Usyk.
