Quote: "The gas transit agreement expires on 1 January 2025; the transit will be physically blocked at 07:00, and the resumption of transit will only be possible if, at the request of the European Commission, we transport non-Russian gas through our system."
Details: Nevertheless, the prime minister explained that under the Association Agreement with the EU and the Energy Charter Treaty, Ukraine is obliged to ensure the transit of Russian oil to Europe at the European Commission's request.
"In this regard, technically, transit at the request of the European side continues. However, we are working to impose 100% of sanctions on Russian molecules," he said.
Background:

- On Thursday, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to discuss the possibility of continuing gas supplies through Ukraine.
- Kremlin leader Putin says the contract for Russian gas transit through Ukraine will no longer exist, but Gazprom will "get through" it.
