Details: Umierov said he would meet with his Portuguese counterpart in January "in person, at the next Ramstein-format meeting".
Quote from Umierov: "We plan to discuss further steps to strengthen security cooperation between Ukraine and Portugal in 2025."
More details: Earlier, it was reported that an additional meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group could take place in December, likely at the highest level.
For reference: The Ramstein-format meeting was established in 2022 to coordinate US military support for Ukraine under the auspices of the United States. It brings together more than 50 countries, most of which are NATO members.
Background:
- Ukraine's defence minister has previously expressed hope that the Ukraine Defence Contact Group format will continue under the upcoming Trump administration.
- Representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance do not think there is a significant chance that the change of administration in the US will lead to the Ramstein Group’s collapse.
