President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the leaders of the European Union to support French President Emmanuel Macron's proposal to establish a European military contingent in Ukraine.

Details: "We support France’s initiative for a military contingent in Ukraine as part of these guarantees and call on other partners to join this effort; it will help bring the war to an end," he said.

Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine finds the outcome of potential negotiations leading to a mere suspension of hostilities unacceptable, as it would primarily benefit Russia.

He expressed his expectation that when US President-elect Donald Trump officially takes office, he will intensify efforts to bring an end to the war.

"It’s up to us whether Europe supports him with a strong, united voice... For the United States to apply full pressure, Europe needs a clear position," Zelenskyy said.
