President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has discussed the priorities of the new EU Commission and Ukraine's accession to the EU with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels.

Details: Zelenskyy thanked Ursula von der Leyen for her personal efforts to consolidate unity in the EU around Ukraine, as the common position of Ukraine and all other European countries is important for bringing about a just peace.

Quote from the press service: "The key topics of the negotiations are the priorities of the new European Commission and Ukraine's accession to the EU. The president [Zelenskyy] noted that Ukraine expects to open two clusters at the beginning of the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union," the statement said.

Zelenskyy and von der Leyen also discussed the use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s needs. The Ukrainian president thanked for the new macro-financial assistance from the EU in the amount of €18.1 billion under the G7 loan and noted that Ukraine expects to receive the first tranche in January 2025.
