Details: Rubio believes that everyone wants the war to end.
"I think the Ukrainians have been incredibly brave and strong when standing up to Russia. But at the end of the day, what we're funding here is a stalemate war, and it needs to be brought to a conclusion," Rubio said.
"I think there has to be some common sense here," he added.
Donald Trump and his vice-presidential candidate, J.D. Vance, have criticised the substantial financial aid the US has provided to Ukraine to bolster its defences.
Rubio added that Trump, who claimed he could end the hostilities in Ukraine within 24 hours, "wants the war to end".
"You don't have to be a fan of Vladimir Putin to want the war to end," Rubio said.
He also claimed that it would take 100 years to rebuild Ukraine.
For reference: US newspaper The Hill reported that Rubio is being considered as a possible secretary of state in the Trump administration.
