Ukrainian government bans power cuts for mobile operators and military facilities

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has added security and defence forces’ facilities, as well as mobile operators, to the list of entities exempt from power outages until 1 June 2025.

Details: The updated list of critical infrastructure facilities granted priority power supply now includes:

– facilities of security and defence forces that command military units;

– electronic communication equipment and communication network structures, as per separate lists.

The previously listed facilities retain their priority power supply. These include:

critical infrastructure facilities listed in the Critical Infrastructure Register, with a connected capacity of at least 100 kW;

settlements located within 20 km of the borders with the Republic of Belarus and Russia.

Background: Some frontline areas of Ukraine are not subject to power cuts due to the serious humanitarian challenges and risks to the lives of local people.
