Ukrainian company develops AI for UAVs that automatically detects and strikes targets
The Ukrainian company ZIR System has unveiled an artificial intelligence system for drones that allows automatic detection and targeting of enemy targets.

Details: ZIR System has developed an artificial intelligence system capable of homing in on a target and identifying enemy objects on its own.
Unlike traditional computer vision technologies, the developer says that the system has been trained on a specially created database and can recognise seven types of targets: infantry, vehicles, minivans, lorries, air defence systems, artillery, tanks and armoured vehicles.
ZIR System’s developers say the system can even recognise vehicles hidden in forested areas. This system can be mounted on any type of FPV kamikaze drone, including multicopters, wings, and aircraft. The system is equipped with its own camera, connects to a flight controller and a standard VTX, and the drone is controlled using a standard remote control.
Quote: "Our artificial intelligence system can recognise static targets and precisely target moving objects at speeds of up to 60 km/h. It can simultaneously track several targets and select the priority one to hit."
Details: The range of automatic target recognition varies from 150 to 800 metres, depending on the object type, and the maximum targeting range is up to 1,000 metres.
The developer says this system costs about US$50 more than traditional homing systems.
The developers are currently working to improve the system's accuracy. After that, they will codify it to allow for official procurement by the Ministry of Defence.
Background: Ukrainian startup Vyriy Drone will produce several thousand drones with an automatic guidance function that will be activated when attacked. This will help drone pilots circumvent electronic Russian warfare systems.
