Josep Borrell, European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has visited the village of Yahidne in Chernihiv Oblast, where Russian occupation forces held the residents of the village in a school basement for a month.

For reference: In March 2022, 370 people were held by Russian forces for almost a month in inhumane conditions in the basement of a school in the village of Yahidne, Chernihiv Oblast. Among them were 70 children, including infants. Eleven people died in Yahidne during the Russian occupation.
Background: On 9 November, Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, arrived in Kyiv on his fifth visit since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
