Ukraine's defence minister and his French counterpart discuss cooperation in arms and ammunition production

Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umierov has held talks with Sébastien Lecornu, France's Armed Forces Minister.

Details: Umierov briefed his French counterpart on the frontline situation and outlined the urgent needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He presented a list that included the need for additional ammunition and weapons. The Ukrainian minister stated that France is prepared to provide support.

Quote: "Ukrainian soldiers from one of the brigades are receiving combined arms and professional training from French instructors. However, France is going further by supplying equipment and weapons to this brigade. We anticipate that other partners will adopt a similar approach."

"We discussed the launch of a French format of cooperation in the production of weapons and ammunition."

Background: On Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron released footage of the Anna of Kyiv Brigade of Ukraine's Armed Forces, which is currently training in France. [Anna of Kyiv was a princess of Kyivan Rus who became Queen of France in 1051 upon marrying King Henry I.]
