Russian forces attack Kharkiv city centre with guided bombs: monument of national significance damaged, nine people injured – photos
Russian forces struck the centre of Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs on the evening of 28 October, leading to explosions in the city. A fire broke out at the site of one strike, damaging the Derzhprom building (the State Industry Building), a cultural monument of national significance, and a medical facility. Nine people are known to have been injured.

Later, Terekhov stated that, based on early reports, the Russians had targeted the very centre of Kharkiv. "There is a fire and smoke at the site of one strike. Information about damage and casualties is being gathered," he said.
Update: The mayor of Kharkiv reported that people had been injured as a result of the attack.
Terekhov reported that five people had been injured in the bombardment.
Syniehubov added that the attack on the central part of the city had damaged the premises of a medical facility and local authority buildings.
"Six people are known to have been injured at the moment. The inspection of the site of the strike is ongoing. Information is being updated," he said.
Later, Syniehubov reported that a local authority building had been struck, destroying several floors.
"In total, hundreds of windows have been damaged in local authority buildings, the regional hospital and residential buildings. Six people are reported to have been injured – they are in a mild to moderate condition. No one has been seriously injured," said Syniehubov.
Early reports indicate that the Russians used FAB-500 bombs in the attack.
Updated at 22:36: Ukraine's Health Ministry has posted photos showing the damage to the medical facility in Kharkiv. Windows have been smashed in one of the departments of the regional hospital.
While patients were unharmed, a medical worker sustained cuts from shattered glass.
Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets confirmed that the Russians had struck the Derzhprom building (the State Industry Building), a cultural monument of national significance under the protection of UNESCO.
Later, Syniehubov posted more photos.
"A direct hit was recorded on the Derzhprom building. It is a monument of national significance, a building in the style of constructivism. The invaders have struck an iconic symbol of the city that every Kharkiv resident knows," the official stressed.
Ukraine's National Police reported that as of 23:20, nine people, including a police officer, had been injured.
